About West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement
The West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI) is a collaborative initiative between the University of Ghana and Cornell University, established in June 2007. It focuses on training Plant Breeders and Seed Scientists in Africa, utilizing classical plant breeding and molecular biology technologies to enhance the development of superior crops. WACCI aims to combat food insecurity in the region by improving access to high-quality seeds for rural farmers and strengthening breeding and seed science programs within National Agricultural Research Systems in Sub-Saharan Africa.
